I’ve just started work at a new job, which focusses on business solutions based on open source software. It’s amazing how much good, high quality open source software is available these days for businesses.
For CRM, SugarCRM is usually used
For websites, Joomla is usually used
For project management, DotProject.
But every project may have specifics that ask for another solution. Luckily, the enormous offering of good open source software makes it easy to find a fitting solution.
Indeed. It is my believe that many opensource applications will emerge to cover every possible niches and usages. Among the applications, one (or a few) will one will eventually own that niche like that you mentioned above.
This is an interesting company you are working for. I have similar idea for such a company.
One challenge I see is integrating the diverse applications. For example if I use SugarCRM and DotProject in my organisation, how do I tie them together. I believe this is a big opportunity for entrepreneur to work on this area.
